Effects of Green Space in an Apartment Complex on the Environmental Cognition and Stress Response of Residents

Background and objective With an increasing interest in health-related issues urban environments, there has been growing attention to the relationship between green space psychological states of residents apartment complexes. This study investigated resident perceptions their stress responses complex. Methods The that arose during residents’ observation two types environments―an indoor living room outdoor space―were through a field experiment. Sixteen healthy adult females child care participated within-group comparison study. semantic differential (SD) method was used examine environmental perception, three tests were administered quantify environments: Profile Mood States (POMS), Revised Perceived Restorativeness Scale (RPRS), Zuckerman Inventory Personal Reactions (ZIPERS). Results Feeling pleasure, familiarity, beauty showed significantly higher scores than space. In POMS analysis, more positive mood found ZIPERS RPRS data suitable for fatigue recovery because it relieved negative emotions greater degree Conclusion suggested spaces have potential reduce restore well-being female residents. Despite limited exposure complex, improved effects observed among participants.
